About Us

Herrington Lake Conservation League was established in 2001 by homeowners tired of all the man-made debris and trash on Herrington Lake!  October 1, 2001, the Article of Incorporation was filed with the Secretary of State, John Y. Brown by the Incorporator Peter McEachern Attorney at Law. Bobby Halsey was listed as the Registered Agent. Bobby Halsey, Jim Dorough and Connie Caudill were listed as the initial three Directors.

HLCL is independent of any commercial enterprise and government agencies and is governed, managed and staffed exclusively by volunteers. HLCL is the only entity, public or private, dedicated solely to improving Herrington Lake. Herrington lake is 35 miles long, up to 1,200 ft. wide, covering 2335 acres with 325 miles of privately owned shoreline. The estimated capacity of the lake is 175,000,000,000 gallons of water flowing through Boyle, Garrard and Mercer Counties. Our efforts are to educate, direct and finance the cleanup efforts on Herrington Lake!
